A native of Southern California who grew up in North Carolina, Michele Bartoli Cain attended undergraduate school at North Carolina State University, earning her B.A. cum laude in 1980. Based on her academic performance she was inducted and became a member of the following honor societies: Pi Sigma Alpha; Blue Key and the Golden Chain. Based on her university-wide contribution, she was named Outstanding Senior Sorority Woman.

While a law student at Wake Forest University, Ms. Bartoli Cain's aptitude as an advocate was apparent in her performance in the Moot Court program and she was appointed a member of the National Team and the Executive Moot Court Board. She served as an editor of the American Society of International Law Proceedings. At graduation Ms. Bartoli Cain was honored with induction into the Order of the Barristers. Following her graduation from Wake Forest School of Law in 1983, she became a trial attorney in the District of Columbia.

As a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States Supreme Court, Ms. Bartoli Cain concentrates her practice in the litigation of personal injury matters and has extensive experience in the area of commercial litigation.

Ms. Bartoli Cain has received the highest rating by her peers ("preeminent") as published in Martindale-Hubbell.

As an attorney, Ms. Bartoli Cain is active in many organizations. Since 1984 she has been a member of the American Bar Association and The American Association for Justice and has been inducted into the Etheridge Society, the preeminent medical malpractice honor society. She is a charter member of the National Museum for Women in the Arts and an active member of the Trial Lawyers - Metropolitan District of Columbia and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Named as one of the Best Personal Injury Attorneys by Washingtonian magazine, Michele Bartoli Cain has been called upon to lecture to groups of physicians and dentists. In 2006 she presented a seminar to the national meeting of the District of Columbia Dental Society on methods to reduce exposure to claims. She feels that part of her duty as an attorney is to litigate for justice and in so doing to improve the quality of health care rendered.

As a dedicated resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Bartoli Cain has consistently participated as an active community member. Married happily to Jonathan T. Cain for twenty two years and the mother of two daughters, she has served on the boards of the Meeting House Cooperative Pre-School and the West Potomac High School Choral Boosters, has been active in the PTAs of Waynewood Elementary School, Stratford Landing Elementary School and Carl Sandburg Middle School. She was recently honored by appointment to the board of directors of the Washington Concert Opera.
